WELCOME TO THE BEACH

OUR STORY

The Indian Bluffs Improvement Association (IBIA) is a non-profit association dedicated to maintaining the private beach access in Manomet, Massachusetts. Membership in the association is a privilege to be enjoyed by dues-paying members, owning deeded property in the Everson Tract.

We are a happy beach community with both full-time and seasonal residents. Fundraising efforts are ongoing to protect and maintaining our bluff and stair access. Donations are always appreciated.

BEACH GUIDELINES

This beach is private property and is owned by the homeowners in the area. These homeowners work hard to maintain the area and we are proud to share it with you. Here are a few things you should be aware of before you hit the sand and surf.

  1. Be aware beach fires require a permit in Plymouth County. Please note, covering a fire with sand to extinguish it does not fully put it out. Covered embers can take hours for embers to cool, especially if the fire is above the high tide line. Unsuspecting beach-goers can get burned or injured by hot spots and debris left under the sand.

  2. Take your trash with you. There is no trash pick up at the top of the stairs. Leaving glass bottles, cans, etc. on the beach and bluff can be dangerous for bare feet; not to mention unpleasant to find when taking in the natural beauty of the beach.

  3. With the exception of chained kayaks, there should be no items stored on the beach overnight. The IBIA is not responsible for any items that are taken by the sea... or passers by.

  4. We are required by the town to leave it as natural as possible. Do not attempt to climb on, or slide down the bluff. This can cause a rock and sand slide. The association goes to great lengths to minimize sand erosion for everyone’s safety and maintain the integrity of our beach access.

  5. Please note and abide by the parking signs along Cape Cod Ave. Parking in the unpaved circle should be for loading and unloading only. Parked cars in the circle make it impassable for emergency vehicles. Police will issue tickets and may tow any illegally parked vehicles.

  6. Please keep your pet in control at all times and pick up and dispose of any pet droppings.

  7. Be aware, fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts and can result in a fine.

  8. There is no life guard on duty. Swim at your own risk. Please be respectful of all marine wildlife and be attentive to ocean currents and tides.

  9. Our shoreline is often full of people wading, floating, or swimming. Take extra caution if you are approaching the beach with your boat or personal watercraft.

  10. People come to the beach for various reasons. Some come to relax and take in the sounds of the surf, while others come to socialize with friends. Whatever your reason, be considerate of others when it comes to noise and space.

  11. We kindly ask that all large events seek written permission of IBIA officers at least 14 days prior to the event. Click here to provide details. This communication allows us to notify the membership and avoid conflicts. Unauthorized large events or any gatherings that become a hazard to our members or property will be reported to the Plymouth Police Department.
